Summary/Objective: Project Engineers perform engineering duties in planning, designing, and overseeing construction and maintenance of commercial and multi-family building structures and facilities. This role supports the planning and coordination through an assigned Project Manager, and frequently directly engages with assigned project superintendents. Project Engineers assist the Project Manager with the planning and daily execution of the construction project(s). Responsibilities include maintaining certain aspects of the project schedule, managing the process of submittal approvals, coordinating the timely delivery of materials, cost management, quality control, maintaining other schedules and budgets. TW Clark Construction Project Engineers are integral members of project teams. The role also works closely with company craftspeople and subcontractors.
Key Functions:
Working knowledge project estimating as it relates to assigned areas of responsibility.
Working knowledge of project schedule and assist in maintaining the project computerized schedule.
Assist with preparing the scope of work instructions, technical requirements and bid packages for subcontractor and vendor items.
Utilize the project management system to expedite, review and approve shop drawings, submittals, and safety requirements for assigned tasks.
Distribute approved submittals to pertinent subcontractors.
Procure materials and equipment.
Obtain and check subcontractor’s pricing and assist in assembling change quotations.
Assist in maintaining the project files, close-out, and storage of documents at completion.
Working knowledge of the contract documents to include reviewing all drawings and specifications for design inconsistencies and conflicts.
Know and understand the subcontract documents as they apply to assigned areas of responsibility.
Assist in documenting changes, maintain project record drawings and specifications.
Required Education and Experience:
Completion of a four (4) year bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Construction Science and/or Civil Engineering, from an accredited post-secondary institution.
A minimum of two (2) years related experience.
A valid, state issued and insurable drivers’ license.
